Since SONAR doesn't actually allow you to compress the input, you will need to use an outboard compressor for this. I don't usually use compression on the input, but perhaps (depending on what you're doing), some gentle compression on input may be worth it. A good recording with a good bass is 50% of the work done, right there. If you're working with a real bass, and recording from scratch, of course, the first thing you should do is make sure your levels are good for recording. I'm a bassist and drummer, so I'm constantly trying to learn new techniques to deal with making my bass sit well in a mix - and especially with drums. Any other ideas on massaging the samples I'm using? I've also tried some of the VC 64 Bass setting but have not hit anything that really sends me. I've tried +3-6 DB at about 1.5K and that helps some and also a little Chorusing. They are there but are not tight in the mix if you know what I mean. I'm also having trouble with my bass sitting well in the mix.
